Please join us for a members-only event: "Exploring harmony and balance in a finished wine with certified sommelier, Krystal Kakimoto", and potluck afterwards including charcuterie by Bocconcino!

Bishop Museum librarian by day, sommelier by night, Krystal Kakimoto is a Kaua'i native, who has cultivated a deep appreciation for the world of wine and loves sharing this with the community. She currently holds titles of Certified Sommelier with the Court of Masters and Certified Wine Expert with the Society of Wine Educators.

Krystal will lead us in a wine-tasting exercise to explore what creates harmony and balance in a finished wine.

We will begin with a short presentation on Kalākaua's trip to Italy, then talk about the types of grapes prominent in Italian wines, and then discuss the use of oak aging that helps create harmony in the finished wine. She will also have us taste a wine that uses American oak versus French oak to give participants a fun side-by-side to taste the differences.

Please bring potluck dish and/or drinks to share with fellow members and enjoy this special historic home in Nu'uanu.
